Conversion tracking troubleshooting & FAQ

Conversion tracking troubleshooting & FAQ

Start with consent, payment status, event settings, and the organization integration. These checks resolve most tracking questions.

I configured a pixel but see no conversions #

Check that:

  1. The participant accepted the cookie category required by that platform.
  2. For a paid registration, payment succeeded and the confirmation page opened. A zero-price registration can be reported with value 0, but an order containing only merchandise is not a registration conversion.
  3. The provider is not set to Disabled for this event under Marketing tracking.
  4. The organization integration is saved, or the event has a complete custom configuration.
  5. If registration is embedded on your website, you used Registration embed with ad-click tracking instead of the plain iframe.

Common reasons are:

  • Visitors declined marketing cookies.
  • Bank-transfer registrations need the offline conversion feed and may appear later.
  • Free registrations are reported with value 0.

See Why conversion numbers differ for the full explanation.

The conversion value is lower than the order total #

Only registration fees count toward the conversion value. Merchandise, add-ons, and other products are excluded.

One order had entries for two of my events #

When the events use different pixels, each platform receives only its own event's value and items—not the whole order total.

Do I still need the pixel on my own website? #

Yes. DistantRace reports what happens on DistantRace pages. Tagging on your own website is separate and remains your responsibility.

If you embed DistantRace registration on your website, use the registration embed with ad-click tracking so click parameters reach the form.

I rotated the feed URL—what breaks? #

The old URL stops working immediately. Update the scheduled upload in Google Ads to use the new URL.

  • Marketing cookies: Google Ads, Meta Pixel, TikTok Pixel, Microsoft Advertising (UET)
  • Analytical cookies: Google Analytics 4 (GA4)

Who can change tracking settings? #

Only organization administrators can edit organization integrations or event tracking settings. Support-level users can open Marketing tracking in read-only mode and do not see the Google Ads conversion feed section.

How long are ad-click parameters kept? #

The captured snapshot is kept for 24 hours. It is tied to the organization whose page the visitor landed on, and the first ad click leading to the order is stored.
