Connect with WHOOP

Connect with WHOOP

Connect your WHOOP account to DistantRace to synchronize sports workouts. WHOOP daily steps are not synchronized.

What data is synchronized #

DistantRace receives the activity type, start and end time, duration, calories, average heart rate, and distance when WHOOP supplies it.

A workout without distance, such as some strength workouts, will not advance distance-based goals. Whether an activity counts is also subject to the challenge organizer's rules.

GPS limitation

WHOOP may record and display a GPS route in its own app, but DistantRace cannot receive that route through the public WHOOP Developer API. The API provides only distance and altitude summaries—not GPS coordinates, route streams, or FIT, GPX, or TCX files.

As a result, WHOOP activities appear in DistantRace without a GPS route. They can participate only in challenges that permit non-GPS activities, subject to organizer rules, and cannot be used where GPS data is mandatory. Enabling Track Route in WHOOP, synchronizing the workout again, or reconnecting WHOOP will not add GPS data to DistantRace. When route data is required, select another supported GPS-capable service.

How to connect WHOOP #

  1. Sign in to DistantRace and open Profile → Connections.
  2. Find WHOOP and select Connect.
  3. Sign in to the WHOOP account you use for recording workouts.
  4. Approve the requested access. After authorization, you will return to DistantRace and WHOOP will appear as connected.

Automatic synchronization #

After the connection is established, new WHOOP sports workouts synchronize automatically. Open Profile → Activities to view synchronized workouts and see whether each one counts toward your challenges.

Manual synchronization by date #

To request workouts for a specific date:

  1. Open Activities.
  2. Select Sync (or the synchronization action in the activity list).
  3. Choose the date and WHOOP, then start synchronization.

Manual synchronization can retrieve a missing workout that is available through the WHOOP API, but it cannot add GPS route data.

Possible connection issues #

  • WHOOP is not shown as connected: Return to Connections, select Connect, and complete every authorization step.
  • A workout is missing: Confirm that it is saved as a workout in the same WHOOP account you connected. Then run manual synchronization for its date.
  • A workout has no route: This is expected. WHOOP records the route, but DistantRace cannot receive it through the WHOOP API. Track Route, another manual sync, or reconnection will not change this.
  • A workout has no distance: WHOOP does not supply distance for every workout type. The workout can still appear in DistantRace, but it will not advance a distance-based goal.
  • Synchronization has stopped: Disconnect and reconnect WHOOP to refresh authorization, then run manual synchronization for the affected date. Reconnection can restore access, but it cannot add GPS data.

How to disconnect WHOOP #

  1. Open Profile → Connections.
  2. Find WHOOP and select Disconnect.
  3. Confirm the disconnection.

New WHOOP workouts will no longer synchronize after the connection is removed. Workouts already received by DistantRace remain in your activity history unless you delete them separately.
