Age groups and standings groups
Age groups and standings groups
Groups split standings and start lists by age and gender — for example M40, F30, or youth categories.
Path (challenge): Challenge → Settings → Groups
Path (competition): Competition → Settings → select a distance → Groups
Club-level group collections #
Groups are stored as collections at club level. Each collection contains one or more ranges:
| Field | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Title | Label shown in standings (e.g. M40–49) |
| From / till year | Birth years included in the group |
| Gender | Male, female, or all |
Create a new collection on the Groups settings page, or pick an existing club collection and attach it to the event.

Challenges #
One group collection applies to the whole challenge. Standings can filter by group when groups are configured.
Competitions #
Groups are configured per distance. A marathon and a 10K can use different collections or share one.
After saving groups while the event is open, DistantRace recalculates group assignments and standings in the background.
Edit or remove groups #
- Save group — add or update a range inside the active collection
- Delete group — remove one range
- Delete collection — remove the whole collection from the event (does not delete the club-level template)
- Delete groups — detach all groups from the event entirely
Event ended
Changing groups after an event ends may not recalculate historical standings. Prefer finalizing groups before publishing results.
