Creating and managing challenges in the app

The DistantRace mobile app can create and manage simple challenges without opening the organizer console in a browser.

Path: Profile → Your events

Organizer access

Sign in with the account that manages the hosting organization. Event creation is no longer available as an anonymous public form.

Create a challenge #

  1. Open Profile → Your events.
  2. Tap Create.
  3. Choose one of the available presets:
    • Daily steps — ranks daily step totals.
    • Points / sports — counts selected sports activities.
    • Combined — combines sports, daily steps, and points.
  4. Add a name (up to 60 characters) and, optionally, a cover image.
  5. Select an organization you manage, or create a new organization.
  6. Choose the event language and start/end dates.
  7. Review the participant capacity and create the challenge.

New mobile-created challenges start as Unlisted. Share the event link or invite code with the intended participants, or change its visibility after creation.

For challenge types and settings not available in the app, use the Create event wizard in the organizer console.

Participant capacity and payment #

The first 10 participant places are free. For a larger challenge, select an available capacity tier during review; the app shows the live App Store or Google Play price before you approve the purchase.

The app creates the challenge first and then completes the store purchase. If payment succeeds but capacity activation is interrupted, return to the challenge and tap Retry activation. This verifies the existing purchase and does not charge you again.

Initial store tiers currently cover challenges of up to 750 participants. After a paid tier is active, additive upgrades can increase that limit further. Contact DistantRace support when the required option is unavailable on your platform.

See Upgrading participant limits for upgrades after creation.

Manage an existing challenge #

Open Profile → Your events, select a challenge, and tap Manage. Depending on the challenge state, you can:

  • edit its name, cover, description, language, and organization;
  • change the schedule within the rules below;
  • choose Club, Unlisted, or Private visibility;
  • view participants and results;
  • share the event link or invite code;
  • upgrade participant capacity; or
  • end the event.

Pull down on Your events or the management screen to refresh current data.

Visibility #

Option Who can open it
Club People browsing the hosting club
Unlisted Anyone with the direct event link or invite code
Private People with the private password; the password must contain at least four characters

Publishing a new event as fully Public requires DistantRace approval. An event that is already public can remain public.

Schedule changes #

Before a challenge starts, you can edit its start date, end date, and registration deadline. After it starts:

  • the start date is locked;
  • the end and registration deadline must be in the future; and
  • the end can be extended by no more than three days beyond the challenge's original end date.

Challenge dates are interpreted in the hosting organization's timezone.

Share after creation #

The success screen provides:

  • a web link to the event;
  • an invite code;
  • View challenge; and
  • Manage.

The link opens the correct event in the app when supported and falls back to the web event page.
