Connect with Google Health

Google Health (Beta) is a read-only connection for daily activity and exercise data. It is separate from Sign in with Google: using Google to sign in does not grant DistantRace access to health data.

Connect #

  1. Sign in to DistantRace.
  2. Open Profile → Connections.
  3. Find Google Health (Beta) and choose Connect.
  4. Review DistantRace's in-product data-use disclosure.
  5. Choose Continue to Google Health and approve the data you want to share.

The connection can import daily steps, floors, distance, calories, active minutes, and exercise sessions. If you separately grant the optional location permission, exercises can also include GPS routes. Without location access, daily summaries and exercise details still sync, but maps and GPS-based validation may be unavailable.

New connections request an initial recent-data import. Older activity is not guaranteed to appear automatically.

How the data is used #

Imported data can appear in your activity history and count toward challenge progress, points, achievements, results, and individual or team leaderboards.

For an event you joined, its organizer can see only the workout summary and route needed to administer the event and validate your result. DistantRace does not sell Google Health data or use it for advertising, marketing, or medical diagnosis.

Mobile app limitation during beta #

Google Health can appear as a partner connection in supported mobile-app versions. It is not yet offered as a selectable daily-step source in released mobile apps. Connect and select it on the DistantRace website; the mobile app keeps using the compatible remote step-source mode while the server syncs Google Health.

Google Health is different from Android Health Connect, which reads health data stored on your phone through the DistantRace app.

Disconnect and delete data #

Open Profile → Connections, choose Disconnect next to Google Health, and confirm. This deletes the separate local connection and its OAuth credentials and stops future Google Health access and synchronization. It does not disconnect Sign in with Google.

Disconnecting does not automatically delete data already imported. You can delete an individual activity, contact DistantRace to request deletion of specific imported data, or delete your account, subject to the retention rules in the Privacy Policy.
