# Resolving duplicate social accounts

When you connect **Google**, **Apple**, or **Facebook** to DistantRace, the platform may detect that this social login already belongs to **another DistantRace account**. You are redirected to a **duplicate accounts** page to resolve the conflict.

**URL pattern:** `/accounts/social/double_accounts/<provider>/<uid>/<account_id>/`

## Why this happens

- You previously signed up with email, then tried social login with the same identity
- You created separate accounts on phone and desktop
- A family member used your device to log in once

See also [Multiple DistantRace user accounts](../connections-with-apps/data-synchronization-problems/multiple-distantrace-user-accounts.md) for email-based duplicates.

## Switch accounts

**Switch** moves the social connection to your **current** logged-in account. Use this when:

- The social login has the activities you want
- The other account was created by mistake and is empty

After switching, connect sports apps again on the account you keep.

## Request merge

**Merge** sends a request to DistantRace support to combine two full accounts (registrations, history, payments). Use when **both** accounts contain data you need.

Support may verify ownership via email before merging.

::: note Time limit
The duplicate-accounts page is available for a limited time after the conflict is detected. If it expires, reconnect the social app or contact support@distantrace.com.

## Prevent duplicates

- Use one email everywhere — [Getting started after signup](getting-started-after-signup.md)
- Log in on phone and web with the same method
- Before connecting a new social app, check which email is on your [profile](your-profile-and-participant-profiles.md)
