# Picking a start time slot

Some in-person races divide starts into **time slots** (waves) to reduce crowding at the start line.

## When this applies

The organizer enables time slots on the competition. After you register and pay, you may be asked to pick a slot — or you can open the time slot page from your event dashboard.

## Pick a slot

1. Open the competition's **Time slots** page (linked from event info or confirmation email)
2. Choose a date (multi-day events)
3. Select an available slot — full slots are greyed out
4. Confirm — your slot is saved to your registration

## Change or cancel a slot

Return to the time slots page while registration is open. You can switch to another free slot or release yours.

## Limits

Each slot has a maximum capacity set by the organizer. Slots are first-come, first-served.
