# Mobile ticket scanning for organizers

For **ticket-based in-person races**, volunteers can scan participant ticket codes at the registration desk using the **DistantRace mobile app** — without full manager console access.

## Ticket Scan role

Invite staff with **Ticket scan** permission from **Club → Members** — see [Club settings and admins](club-settings-and-admins.md).

Ticket scan users must log into the mobile app with the same DistantRace account that received the invite.

## What gets scanned

Each paid registration for a ticket-race competition generates an **EventTicket** with a unique code (also on PDF tickets and confirmation emails).

When a code scans successfully:

- Status changes to **Used**
- Timestamp is recorded
- Duplicate scans return **Already used**

Invalid or unknown codes show **Not found**.

## At the venue

1. Open the DistantRace mobile app while logged in as a Ticket scan user
2. Open the **scanner** (QR / barcode)
3. Scan the participant's ticket code from email, PDF, or screen
4. Confirm the app shows **valid** before handing over a bib or kit

## Track scans in the console

Administrators view sold and scanned tickets under the competition **Sold tickets** list — [Purchase summary](../finance-module/purchase-summary.md).

Export ticket status to Excel for reconciliation after race day.
