# Competition distance sync mapping

When importing results from **timing files** or **URL sync**, external systems use their own distance identifiers. Map them to your DistantRace distances so finish times land on the correct category.

**Path:** Competition → **Results → Import → Distance mapping**

## Add a mapping

1. Open distance mapping under Results → Import
2. Select your DistantRace **distance** (5K, marathon, etc.)
3. Enter the **external ID** or code from the timing export (see provider documentation)
4. Save

Repeat for each distance in multi-distance races.

## Without mapping

Unmapped external rows are skipped or placed in an import review queue. Always map before the first live sync on race day.
