# Checkpoint passages

**Passages** track participants through checkpoints on course — useful for lap races, triathlon segments, or confirming kit pickup.

## Record scans

Scan participant QR codes or bib barcodes at checkpoints. Each scan creates a passage record with timestamp.

## Pre-passages

**Passage → Pre** configures expected passage order or pre-registration at checkpoints before race day.

## Race-day registration QR

Participants who register on race day receive a QR code by email. Scan it at the registration tent to confirm payment and assign a bib — see [Race-day registration and check-in](race-day-registration-and-check-in.md).
