# Finding and joining events

Use the **QR scanner** (floating button on Home and event lists) or open links shared by organizers.

## Scan an event QR code

1. Tap the **QR** button
2. Point the camera at the organizer poster, ticket, or screen
3. The app resolves the event and opens registration or the event home page

QR codes may encode a short event slug or full URL — both work when the event is public.

## Enter a join code manually

For private events:

1. Open the QR scanner
2. Switch to **Enter code** (or type when prompted)
3. Submit the alphanumeric code from your invitation

Invalid or expired codes show an error — ask the organizer for a fresh code. Website guide: [Using a join code](../joining-events/using-a-join-code.md).

## Open shared links

Event links from email or social media open in the app when installed (Universal Links on iOS, App Links on Android). Otherwise they open in the mobile browser and you can continue registration there.

## Race-day ticket scan

Organizers at the start line may ask you to show a **13-digit ticket code** (often starting with `990`). The scanner validates your registration for check-in — see [Race-day registration as a participant](../joining-events/race-day-registration-as-a-participant.md).

## Discover on Home

The **Discover events** section on Home lists suggested public challenges. Tap any card for details and **Join**.
