# Transferring your registration to someone else

If you cannot start a race but the organizer allows transfers, you can **replace yourself** with another person on the same registration slot.

## When transfer is available

The organizer must publish a **Participant Replacement** product for the event — see [Upsell products in checkout](../running-events/upsell-products-in-checkout.md). If no transfer option appears, contact the organizer — [Contact the organizer](contact-the-organizer.md).

Transfers are usually limited to a date before the race and may charge a **replacement fee**.

## How to transfer

1. Open **My events** → your competition → registration detail — [My competition registrations](my-competition-registrations.md)
2. Choose **Replace participant** (or open the replacement flow from your order)
3. Enter the **new participant's** details (name, birth date, gender, contact fields)
4. Pay the replacement fee if the product has a price — [My purchases and orders](my-purchases-and-orders.md)
5. Confirm — the new person takes your bib, distance, and answers; your name leaves the start list

If the replacement is **free**, the swap completes immediately after you submit the form.

## What changes

| Item | After transfer |
|------|----------------|
| Start list name | New participant |
| Bib number | Usually kept on the same slot (may reset if auto-assignment rules apply) |
| Distance / team | Unchanged unless you also bought a distance change |
| Original payer | Unchanged — refunds are organizer policy |

The new participant does **not** need your login. They may create their own account later and [link a participant profile](linking-a-participant-profile.md) if the organizer sends a connect link.
