# Registering interest before signup

Some events let you leave your **email** before you have a DistantRace account or before registration opens. You are added to the organizer's **interested** list and guided to sign up or log in.

## When you see this

- Registration is **not open** yet but the event page accepts interest
- You must **create an account** or **log in** before the apply form appears
- A private event preview asks for your email first

## What happens

1. Enter your email on the event or challenge page.
2. DistantRace saves you as **interested** for that event (and club).
3. You are redirected to **Sign up** or **Log in** with your email pre-filled.
4. After creating an account, the event may appear in onboarding — [Getting started after signup](getting-started-after-signup.md).

When you complete registration, your interest entry is marked as applied automatically.

## After you have an account

Return to the event link from the organizer and finish [registration](which-type-of-event-is-this.md). Your earlier interest does not replace signing up — it only captures contact details and helps organizers plan capacity.

## Organizer side

Clubs see interested emails in the manager console — [Collecting interested participants](../running-events/collecting-interested-participants.md).
