# Step game

The **step game** adds sequential **daily tasks** (goals) participants complete during a step or combined challenge. A default step game is created automatically for new step and combined challenges.

## Open step game settings

From the challenge dashboard: **Step game** in the menu, or the walkthrough **Step game** step.

URL pattern: `/console/<org>/challenges/<event>/step_game/`

## Enable or disable

- **Step game on/off** — show tasks to participants. Turning off **deletes all configured tasks** — re-add them if you enable again.
- **Scoring on/off** — award points for completing tasks (when combined with points rules). Use **Update points** after editing per-task point values in combined challenges.

## Tasks (goals)

Each task has:

- **Order** — sequence participants follow
- **Target** — steps or other unit for that day/period
- **Points** — optional bonus when scoring is enabled

Add, edit, or reorder tasks from the step game page.

## Participant experience

Participants see **Step game** on the challenge navigation when enabled. Completed tasks update their points total.
